False Alarm

As the blogger from Barnstable who proudly resides in Precinct 3, I try to chime in whenever the Precinct, or issues directly affecting it, is mentioned in the local blogosphere.

Readers who found Precinct 3 mentioned in Gary Lopez' latest blog post can rest easy. Precinct 3 has absolutely NOTHING to do with the story, which is another pointless attack on Janet Joakim.

Speaking of which, in this latest post, the author of the COG blog has done two interesting things that cannot be a good indicator of his future power (if any) in Barnstable politics.

First, he again posted the account numbers and routing numbers for Janet Joakim's bank account, by adding the infamous picture of her check. As I have pointed out previously on this blog (here and here), this action is a crime. That Lopez has posted the check AGAIN is to spit on the face of common sense, and hopefully will only be further ammunition for any charges and/or investigations that should be conducted of the COGers.

Second, Lopez made this little quip "If Janet Joakim has the gall to run for reelection next year "... Hmmm... I thought the COGers we going to recall her... What happened to that??? Apparently, they either don't have the signatures or they don't have the votes (they NEVER have the votes). Though, the embarrasment of being voted down is always overshadowed in their minds by the "success" of collecting the signatures.

Last Tuesday, we had "Meeting of the Voters"... 300 people signed that petition... Not even 100 showed up... Looks like COG can get the signatures, but not the vote... Councilor Rugo was right when he said that anyone could collect 500 signatures in a day - half of them just from people who want you to leave them alone... Looks like plenty of people want the COGers to leave them alone, and they're saying it at the ballot box and meeting rooms... But folks, the BEST way to get them to leave you alone is to NOT SIGN THEIR PETITIONS.

By the way, the town DID record the Open Meeting, and the complete video is available for viewing or download on the town website, or you can download it by right clicking on this link --> and Selecting "Save Target As...".

I think the lack of support for the COGgers at the meeting of the voters was significant to how small that little group of nuts is. 300 signatures and 60 or so atendees, most of whom weren't with them. Gary Lopez, not very well spoken and lacking a logical thought process. Where was the queen of bad mouth blogging? She sure runs her "mouth" in the blogs, she couldn't speak her thoughts at the meeting? Or was it that Mary Clements wasn't there to read Thoman's writings? True to form, she was probably walking around video taping and photographing Janet. I heard that Thoman doesn't even know the seven villages of Barnstable. Ha! Ha Ha!

What is going on with the ZBA? It looks like a major upheaval is happening with the current crop of appointments. Some of them are noteworthy indeed. Apparently the council felt the need to slow the process down. This is probably as important as any other current developments in town. A shift in the ZBA could affect the direction of town affairs for years. What is the agenda behind these decisions?

Other blogs had posted the details of thoman and lopez's liens both businesses and taxes, arrest records, etc. these people have records in the courts for more than liens. When do we discuss this publicly? Joakim won't allow comments about this stuff on 7villages but there are details that should be shared so we can see the irony. Regardless of whether you are a public figure, the details are public info.

Those documents were on his site yesterday with the social security numbers. How long were they up? Why would anyone want to run for council let alone take the hits they give the president of the council?

Nobody wants to run because of what they have to put up with. Greg Milne didn't win a political challenge for town council, he ran unopposed! Also, there is what's called name recognition. Early on I confused Greg Milne for Mark Milne! Poor Mark! Once I met Greg, I realized it wasn't who I thought. Same for Thoman, she spent the most on her charter commission seat. She got a decent amount of votes, but how much was because she had signs every 2 feet and harrassed people leaving the school? Name recognition. Then you have Marcy Dugas who didn't campaign and who did ok with her numbers, especially considering her lack of campaigning. Most people don't want to be harassed by the small group of political extremists, so they don't run. Maybe there could be change in a good way if the COGgers backed off people and stopped picking apart every aspect of their lives! Especially when they themselves are FAR from perfect!!!!!

*****NEWS FLASH*******

May 17 Centerville MA

This morning police were called to a Centerville neighborhood to rescue two women who were found stuck head first in the town council president's trash cans. One of the women was dressed in a red t-shirt which, while covered in coffee grinds and cat-litter, had black letters with the word “recall” still visible. The other woman was wearing polished rock jewelry and carrying video and digital cameras, had night vision goggles hanging from her neck, and was mumbling unintelligibly about "recalls", and 'meetings of voters."

An older, be-speckled and disheveled man was also found at the scene trying to pull the women out by their feet, growling, “there has to be SOMETHING in there!!”

As the three were were loaded into the paddy wagon with padded walls, the two women were chanting “King Cog is our leader.. He will lead us from conspiracy into the light.”

According to Doctors called to the scene, all three will be sent to Bridgewater State Hospital for observation.

I watched the meeting of the voters. Two things I found rather strange but funny. #1) There were actually people who were sitting in the back of the room yelling at Gary Lopez telling him to “shut up and sit down.” #2) After all of the crap that Taryn Thoman “Types” why did she not have the nerve to get up and speak? Reason being, it is more difficult to be brave out in public then it is to be brave in the comfort of your own home. Oherwise, a COWARD.

Question from another blog:

"What recently retired Main St. shop owner is in the current issue of Banker and Tradesman for a $500 state tax lien? Hint- this individual is very fussy when it comes to the financial practices of others."

Answer: Who is Taryn Thoman for $500 Chuck?

Regarding a comment from yesterday, what is happening with the ZBA? Wholesale replacements being rushed through, the council seeking to slow down the process- is this some fall out from the whole Blanchard's - Cape Cod Package Store situation?

It does not take courage to stand in front of a bunch of small time small town councilors and speak your mind. Idiots do it all the time. Most folks in town do not bother addressing the council because there is simply no accountability with those people. I know many local activists personally who are not afraid to speak their minds, ever. Councilors constantly blab about ''respect'', but they are rude to speakers and each other. I would not recommend anyone waste their time addressing the council, ever, for any reason. It is far more effective to meet personally with town leaders. I know several activist who prefer this more effective approach than standing in front of the likes of Joakim. That is a major waste of time! BTW, why don't all you buttkissers show up at a meeting and tell them all how wonderful they are? That is the only way to get a response from this council, which is the most corrupt bunch Barnstable has ever seen!
